The hike leads to one of the most beautiful views in Saxon Switzerland with a place to eat and rest.

Well wheelchair-accessible route, making this hike popular for guests with mobility impairments. The Brandaussicht is considered one of the oldest tourist destinations in Saxon Switzerland and is a worthwhile alternative to the even more frequented Bastei viewpoint above the spa town of Rathen on the Elbe.

Directions

This route is one of the easier hiking suggestions. The flat paths with good ground and some gentle inclines should be manageable for sporty wheelchair users even without assistance. A slightly steeper slope leads to the rock plateau of the Brandaussicht (support by a companion may be advisable here), before you can enjoy an unrestricted view across the land. Right at the viewpoint, the Brandbaude inn invites you to rest. Next to the inn, the historic log house houses an information point for the national park – which like the inn, is accessible for those with disabilities. For the return, it is best to use the forest road from the approach. Alternatively, after about 1.2 km, the hike along the round and then Neuweg path running parallel to the west is possible – passing a small pond. Due to the rather rougher terrain here, supportive accompaniment is recommended.
