Where is Saxon Switzerland located?
The Saxon Switzerland is a popular travel destination located in the far east of Germany, in the state of Saxony, right on the border with the Czech Republic. The area stretches along the Elbe southeast of Dresden and forms the German part of the famous Elbe Sandstone Mountains. The region is known for its striking rock formations, deep gorges, dense forests, and spectacular hiking trails.
The Saxon Switzerland National Park, considered one of the most beautiful natural landscapes in Germany, covers part of Saxon Switzerland. The most well-known places in the region are Bad Schandau, Königstein, Rathen, and Sebnitz.
