Malerweg Elbe Sandstone Mountains

The Painter's Path in 8 Stages

Eight daily stages: This is the official recommendation for dividing the Painter's Path. The stages are measured in such a way that a hiker with normal fitness can comfortably complete them at a leisurely vacation pace and still have enough time for detours, photos, and breaks. The individual sections are eleven to eighteen kilometers long. It doesn't sound like much, but the region is rich in elevation changes, which require additional time and energy. With minor detours, the Painter's Path can also be hiked with a dog.

Collecting Painter's Trail Stamps and Postcards

On the Painter's Trail, you can collect kilometers or beautiful moments - but also stamps and postcards. The passion for collecting seems to be in the genes. Our partners along the Painter's Trail, who carry the certificate: "Hiker-Friendly on the Painter's Trail," such as guesthouses, hotels, or tourist information centers, have the appropriate stamp ready for you. Also ask for the free collector's postcard for this stage! With eight different historical motifs, you can collect your own personal mini-gallery.

The Malerweg Hiking Pass

The Malerweg Hiking Pass is extremely popular. By stamping it, you not only keep beautiful memories but also get a black-and-white record of your Malerweg hiking tour. You can collect a personally issued certificate at the tourist information office in Pirna. This certificate is issued to you upon completing at least one hiking stage. Those who have collected all eight stage stamps can look forward to a small exclusive souvenir.

You can download the hiking pass directly. It is also found in the hiking brochure on the last page. The hiking brochure is available at all local tourist information offices or can be mailed to your home.
