An immersive exhibition invites you to a virtual encounter with one of the most famous Romantic painters: Caspar David Friedrich.
Caspar David Friedrich spent the majority of his life in Dresden and loved the wild and romantic rocky landscape of Saxon Switzerland, which lies just a short distance from the city. He was repeatedly drawn to this impressive landscape, where he sought solitude and drew rocks, mountains, trees and ruins.

In his studio, he created fascinating, metaphorical pictorial worlds - true to detail, yet free in composition, with an intensity that is still moving today.

Since his 250th birthday in 2024, an exhibition has been dedicated to the famous Romantic artist The immersive show "CDFriedrich inspires" in the rooms of the former tourist information office on the market square is both a multimedia memorial and a virtual gallery. Room-filling video projections invite visitors to encounter the painter and his work, see the landscape through his eyes and understand his creative process - from the sketch to the finished painting.

With two rooms and an area of around 200 square meters, the exhibition offers a compact, impressive introduction to the real landscape experience that awaits you when hiking in the Saxon Switzerland National Park region.
