The Bad Schandau Museum presents the history of the town and the region. The permanent exhibition covers topics such as urban development, shipping on the Elbe, tourism and Saxon mountaineering.

A special focus is placed on the life and work of the ethnologist Erich Wustmann. His travels to indigenous peoples in South America and Northern Europe are illustrated by numerous exhibits, photographs and audiovisual media.
