Hohnstein: Hockstein-Aussicht and Wolfsschlucht

The starting point for the hike is the Zeschnig Hocksteinschänke bus stop. From there, the trail follows the Malerweg (Painter's Trail) past the Hocksteinschänke and the car park onto the Hocksteinweg. Follow this path to the Teufelsbrücke, a stone bridge built in 1821, making it older than the famous Bastei Bridge.

After crossing the bridge, you will reach the Hockstein, where a refuge hut and several vantage points with views of the Polenztal valley and Hohnstein Castle await you. A medieval mill game carved into a rock can also be discovered. From the Hockstein viewpoint, you can see the different geological shapes of the valley (V-shaped in granite on the left, U-shaped in sandstone on the right).

The trail then leads down through the steep Wolfsschlucht gorge and around the Hockstein until you reach the Polenztal valley. A detour to the Polenztal inn is recommended. The ascent through the Kohlichtgrund valley takes you along the green line or the Hohnstein nature trail, keeping to the left and crossing Wartenbergstraße twice. Finally, you reach the Hocksteinweg again and return to the starting point at the bus stop.
