Parking lot "Beuthenfall", Kirnitzschtal
From Beuthenfall in the Kirnitzschtal, it first goes very steeply uphill for 200m on a wide track. Along the way, some small drainage channels set in sandstone have to be crossed, but these do not pose any major obstacles. After the bend in the path, the trail levels off and only rises moderately. At the next junction, at a forester's hut, we turn right. The path then climbs steeply again until after about 650m we reach to the left the rocks of the Langes Horn with the summit of Bloßstock. On the wide hiking trail, also called "Lower Affenstein Promenade," we continue rolling towards the Schrammsteine. Although there are occasional short climbs and descents, progress is good on the firm and fine gravel surface. Beautiful views of several rock formations of the Affensteine make the hike quite varied. Formerly sandy sections of the path have since been paved with sandstone. On the main path, we pass many branches with resonant names such as "Wilde Hölle" and "Großer Dom," but these are not accessible by wheelchair. Passing the Lorenzlöcher, we finally reach a large crossing below the Schrammsteine, where we turn slightly downhill towards the Wildwiese. Our path now leads onto the Wenzelweg, which we follow turning right and soon pass the rest area with two huts at the Wildwiese. Afterwards, the wide forest road—on the steepest section even asphalted—leads us over the Nasser Grund back into the Kirnitzschtal. Unfortunately, it is unavoidable to cover the last 1.4 km in the Kirnitzschtal back to Beuthenfall on the road, as the Flößersteig is not suitable for wheelchair users. However, with a narrow wheelchair and helpers (for the non-barrier-free boarding and alighting), the ride with the historic Kirnitzschtalbahn to the destination is also possible as an alternative.
Please note: in the Saxon Switzerland National Park, only marked paths may be used in the core zone! Fines may be imposed for violations.
Coming from Pirna, take the B172 via Königstein towards Bad Schandau. Cross the Elbe in Bad Schandau and turn left at the first street behind the market square towards Hinterhermsdorf. Drive through the Kirnitzschtal to the Beuthenfall car park.
