The route starts at a beautifully carved wooden woodpecker. This marks the entrance to the nature trail. Additionally, a part of "Robie's Way," initiated by the local kindergarten, runs along the path, so red-painted trail stones periodically line the way. The approximately 40 panels along the roadside provide a lot of interesting information about flora, fauna, and forestry. This allows adults and their children to learn about the tasks of nature conservation, partly in a playful way. The route initially leads up to Schleifersberg, the only ascent on the path. From there, you have a wonderful view of the highest mountain of the Saxon-Bohemian Switzerland, the Hoher Schneeberg. In good weather, you can also see far into Bohemia. The Arnold bench is also a great picnic spot and invites you to linger. After the viewpoint, the path goes downhill. Shortly after, you can visit a large insect hotel – especially in spring, there is a lot of activity that increases the time spent there. The nature trail then continues to the ponds. There is also a wonderful resting opportunity, a covered resting area, and several display panels for those who do not want to sit for long. In summer, pretty water lilies bloom, and in spring, if you're lucky, you can observe numerous grass snakes swimming while hunting. Shortly after the ponds, the route leaves the nature trail and continues to the right on the pond path, passing a beautiful orchard and a resting area with a water play feature where children can have fun. Afterwards, the path leads back on a scarcely used country road, lined with old fruit trees, to the starting point. Especially in spring, a true sea of blossoms.
The proposed route here is not suitable for strollers but can be modified for strollers by following the completely signposted nature trail.
Sturdy footwear, binoculars, a magnifying glass cup, and picnic utensils as there are no catering options along the path.
The route is especially beautiful in summer during the water lily bloom. In spring, frogs, as well as swimming, hunting grass snakes can be observed.
