The route starts at the station in Ulbersdorf. Immediately behind the station building begins the Sebnitz Valley Trail, marked with a red dot. The path winds mostly on narrow trails and above the bank along the Sebnitz River. After 1.5 km, you can make a detour to Raschgärtner's Robber's Castle.
Raschgärtner's Robber's Castle is located on a spur above the Sebnitz. In the Middle Ages, there was a fortification there. It was meant to protect the river crossing of the old escort road from Neustadt to Lichtenhain. Remains of the castle are barely visible today.
The Sebnitz Valley Trail crosses the river several times and goes under the railway. When passing under the railway at about 2.5 km, make sure to continue in the direction of the Sebnitz flow. After 5.5 km, we leave the Sebnitz Valley and the "red dot" marking.
We hike the Kohlmühlsteig up to the Adamsberg with a wonderful view: Above Altendorf rises the round basalt dome of the local mountain with the rock wall of the New Wildenstein (Kuhstall) in front. Further to the right, you can see the Affensteine with the freestanding Bloßstock as well as the Schrammsteine. Well visible are Zirkelstein, the Zschirnsteine, and the Hohe Schneeberg with its observation tower. At Pfaffenstein, the small rock needle of Barbarine stands out clearly. Also visible are Königstein Fortress and the striking Lilienstein. You can even spot the Rathen Elbe walls!
After enjoying the wonderful view, the route continues to Altendorf. Keeping left, we cross the main road and turn into the meadow path. We follow the signpost "Kirnitzsch Valley." Shortly after the last houses, we re-enter the forest and descend through the steep Dorfbach Gorge into the Kirnitzsch Valley. The last 3 km are on a comfortable path along the Hartung Promenade through the Kurpark to Bad Schandau. The Elbe ferry crosses to the Nationalparkbahnhof Bad Schandau every half hour.
