Where landscape becomes art
To mark the 20th anniversary of the Malerweg, an important piece of art and cultural history is returning to the public eye. In the special exhibition "Inspiration Malerweg", in the Parkhotel Bad Schandau, selected reproductions of paintings, drawings and sketches from the Hasse Foundation, whose motifs can be found along the Malerweg, will be shown from April 17, 2026. The exhibition is complemented by an exclusive selection of contemporary works by artists from the region - Claudia Pinkau & Heike Küchler (Galeriewerkstatt Ansichtssache) and Andrea Molière (Molière artdesign), thus building a bridge from historical to contemporary interpretations.
The collection, founded by Ursula and Dietrich Hasse, comprises around 500 sheets from the 15th to the 20th century, including works by well-known artists such as Johann Alexander Thiele, Canaletto and Adrian Zingg. Many of the views are located directly along the route and show how closely art, landscape and the development of tourism in Saxon Switzerland are interwoven.
