Gossdorf robbery castle
The Goßdorfer Raubschloss, historically known as Schwarzberg Castle, once stood on a spur almost 50 meters above the valleys of Schwarzbach and Sebnitz. Today, the site hardly appears to be a classic castle, but rather a ruin with architectural replicas.
The castle was first mentioned in a document in 1372. Its purpose was presumably to control and secure an old trade route through the Schwarzbach valley. Over the course of history, it lost importance and fell into disrepair.
In 2003, restoration work was carried out to preserve the visible walls and parts of the building fabric. Remains of the enclosing walls, an artificially renovated central section with a roof and the original moat can be seen on the site today.
The location on the narrow mountain spur with deep ravines on both sides makes the ruins particularly attractive.
