Weesenstein Castle in the Müglitz valley and the Baroque Garden Großsedlitz are two popular excursion destinations in Saxon Switzerland. They are now connected by the new approximately 7.5-kilometer-long Königsweg. It is quite possible that servants and couriers of the Wettin family once used this path.

Directions

The path can be walked in both directions. Starting at Weesenstein Castle, which can be reached on foot from Weesenstein station in ten minutes, there is initially a steep climb up to the remains of the former belvedere. From the small, two-story little castle, which once housed a ballroom and the residence of the electoral hunter, only the foundations remain today. The path then continues to Meusegast to a viewpoint at the edge of the forest with views over the Ore Mountains foothills and into Saxon Switzerland. At the destination, the Baroque Garden Großsedlitz invites you to stroll. For the return journey, the Heidenau-Großsedlitz S-Bahn stop is recommended, which can be reached on foot via a hiking trail in 20 minutes.
