Reinhardtsdorf-Schöna
Explore by bike
Located between GroĂźer Zirnstein, Kaiserkrone, Zirkelstein, and Wolfsberg, the town offers hiking and recreation opportunities in a heavily forested area.
Reinhardtsdorf-Schöna, along with the district of Kleingießhübel, surprises with a number of rocks rising majestically from the landscape – and serves as a starting point for excursions on foot, by bicycle, by bus, by car, or with the romantic side-wheel steamboat. The cross-border Elbe Cycle Route and the Schöna-Hrensko ferry connection also lead visitors directly into Bohemian Switzerland.
The Malerweg (Painters' Trail) attracts hikers not only via a hiking route rich in tradition but also to charming viewpoints. Those who wish can also climb the GroĂźer Zirnstein, the highest elevation in Saxon Switzerland. The Reinhardtsdorf Church is also a gem. Built in the style of peasant baroque, its oldest documented mention dates back to 1368. Inside, it houses a carved winged altar from the year 1521 to this day.
In addition, the town captivates with Umgebinde houses (half-timbered houses) from the 18th/19th century. The local history room in the Umgebinde house in Schöna bears witness to the life of a quarryman family around the turn of the century. An annual work meeting of sculptors takes place in the old sandstone quarry of Reinhardtsdorf. Some of the works created there stand in the town and along the paths on the Wolfsberg.
