The municipality of Lohmen extends from the Bastei / Bastei Bridge, the famous balcony of Saxon Switzerland, to the romantic rock world of the Liebethal and Uttewald Valleys and is characterized by its rural nature.
As an excursion destination in the middle of the Bastei area and as a popular travel destination, Lohmen can look back on over 700 years of history, which is closely rooted in the discovery of Saxon Switzerland in the 18th century.
Lohmen impresses with its central location, its proximity to all excursion destinations in Saxon Switzerland, and to the culture and residential city of Dresden. Special sights in the immediate vicinity include Lohmen Castle, the church as one of the largest village churches in Saxony, the Richard Wagner Monument, and the Felsenburg Neurathen. Lohmen is also located directly on the idyllic Malerweg and is the ideal starting point for the 1st stage of this hiking trail.
