At the Obere Schleuse lock in the wild and romantic Kirnitzschtal gorge.

The boatmen of the Obere Schleuse near Hinterhermsdorf guide their guests by means of hand barges past rock faces whose sulphur lichens are reflected in the clear water, show rare plants that only thrive in the national park and show strange rock formations in which, with a little imagination, you can recognize a crocodile, a mountain spirit, an elephant's head or a sleeping lamb.

Three hours should be planned. Registration for groups is requested,
sturdy footwear is required. Snacks and souvenir sales are available.
