Bährmühle Bad Gottleuba-Berggießhübel
The mill in the Gottleuba Valley has been in existence since 1388 - today it is the last of around 30 mills that once operated here using water power. Instead of river water, the original technology is now powered by electricity.
The path of the grain can be followed over several floors: from the sack beating machine to roller mills from 1908 to the plansifter. There is also an old elevator - with a sign saying "150 kg, including guide".
The building vibrates when the transmissions start, then the smell of freshly ground flour fills the air. The sawmill with saw frame from 1898 is also still in operation and shows how wood was processed in the past.
Nora Mäke is the fourth generation to run the family business, supported by the master miller.
TIP:
Guided walk "Little Mill Tour" and visit to the Bähr Mill
every 2nd and 4th Sunday of the month 9 am - meeting point: MEDIAN Clinic
Bad Gottleuba main entrance, Königstraße 39
