It is what is known as an “Alberghi Diffusi” (from the Italian: scattered hotel). This means that the rooms, apartments, vacation rentals, and vacation homes, as well as the reception area, restaurants, event venues, and workshops, are not all housed in a single building. Instead, they are spread throughout the village of Schmilka.
During the winter months, from mid-November to mid-March, Schmilka transforms into a winter village. The Mühlenhof becomes the central gathering place, where guests can enjoy mulled wine by the campfire. The bath attendant invites guests to take a dip in the heated tubs and enjoy a sauna infusion in the bathhouse. Delicious meals are served in the Mühlenstube, and the certified organic bakery is filled with the aroma of freshly baked bread. A cozy atmosphere is created by subdued lighting, glowing Herrnhut stars, and a crackling fireplace. The Schmilka Winter Village offers a variety of experiential and wellness activities, referred to as “rituals.”
