A hidden gem among the educational trails in Saxon Switzerland is the nearly 2.5-kilometer-long Buchenhain forest educational trail in the district of Markersbach. As a result, it is very quiet there most of the time. Families can fully immerse themselves in the forest, its sounds, and inhabitants. 

On twelve panels, Sachsenforst explains, among other things, which animals and plants live in the forest and by the stream, which rules should be observed in the forest, and the role of forestry. With some luck, the described amphibians and woodpeckers can be observed.
