Struppen
Art and hiking compact
Located between Pirna and Königstein, Struppen is a central yet tranquil holiday destination situated in the area of the Großer and Kleiner Bärenstein.
The municipality of Struppen, along with its districts Naundorf, Thürmsdorf, Weißig, Ebenheit, and Strand, is located on the left bank of the Elbe in the "Front Saxon Switzerland" within the Rathen Elbe bow.
A particular attraction is the Robert-Sterl-Haus in the Naundorf district. In the final residence and workplace of the renowned German Impressionist Robert Sterl (1867-1932), visitors can still view the artist's oil paintings, drawings, and prints today.
The municipality offers ideal conditions for a diverse holiday experience for all ages. Hikers, in particular, will find much to enjoy here. The Bärenstein peaks, the especially appealing ridge trail on the Rauenstein, the Königstein Fortress, the Bastei viewpoint near Rathen, the Rathen Open Air Stage, and the leisure pool in Wehlen are all easily accessible from every district.
A day on the Elbe with the historic paddle steamer fleet or a cycling tour along the Elbe Cycle Route, passing steeply towering rock formations, will remain in the memory of any visitor for a long time. For mountaineers as well, the rocky landscape in the Struppen municipality provides climbing opportunities of all difficulty levels.
