Forest clearing with natural stage from the 1950s - quiet place, occasionally revived for theater and concerts.
In the 1950s and 60s, many vacationers came to Leupoldishain. In order to offer them more than just nature, the idea was born to build a stage in the middle of the forest. On June 21, 1959, it was opened with a large festive event.
The seats were barely big enough. This was followed by performances by well-known artists, music groups and theater ensembles.
A few years later, mining put an end to the performance operations. The rows of seats fell into disrepair, nature grew back.
In 2011, the Waldbühne was revived. In cooperation with the Neustadt forest district, the Leupoldishain local history association and the volunteer fire department, the natural stage has since been used for various small events, including theater performances, concerts, choir performances and environmental education programs.
Not far away you will find the film locations of "Cloud Atlas" or "Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters".
