Directions
The hike starts at the Elbkai quay up Elbstraße, crossing Dresdner Straße to Lindenallee. The route continues uphill for a few metres before turning into Rathmannsdorfer Weg on the other side of the road. After a few bends, this becomes Pestalozzisstrasse, which leads directly to Rathmannsdorf. On the way, you pass the 15 metre high, barrier-free viewing tower. Always following Pestalozzistraße, you pass Rathmannsdorf Höhe. The road becomes a horse track and leads downhill into Lachsbachtal, where you reach the village of Rathmannsdorf again. Follow Hohnsteiner Straße a few metres to the right, cross the road and climb the Mühlsteigel on the left just before the bend. This takes you to Porschdorf on the "Niederdorf" road. Continue left past the Porschdorfer Einkehr inn up the main road and past the church. Above the church, there are two paths within a few metres of each other on the other side of the road. Our tour uses the upper, unpaved path, the Ehrlichtweg. Following this, you come to the Gründelweg and follow it down the valley to the left. This takes you to Prossen on the Elbe and the renovated Prossen manor. The playground in the immediate vicinity is recommended as a picnic spot. Continue upstream along the banks of the Elbe back towards Rathmannsdorf. You can end the tour there on the left at the railway station. If you prefer, you can walk back to Bad Schandau on the right.
