The route starts at Neustadt train station and leads right over Doktor-Otto-Nuschke-Straße and Friedenseck to the intersection Rugiswalder Weg, which you follow to the right. The second turnoff on the left passes the Freibadesee before reaching Kirschallee, where you turn right. The blue line marking directs you after about 500 meters to the right onto Tägnigtweg, which you follow in a large arc.
Soon you reach the Ungerstufen, which lead to the summit of Ungerberg. The panoramic view from the Prinz-Georg-Turm over Neustadt and Saxon-Bohemian Switzerland is worth the climb. The excursion tavern recommends itself with delicious local cuisine. The ultimate tip from locals: try homemade head cheese or the Ungerschnitzel!
For the return, choose the ridge trail marked with a green diagonal line (alternatively the nature trail). The ridge trail eventually meets the natural history hiking trail further down. You cross the street and follow the marking to Götzinger Höhe. The tower is especially suited for visitors without fear of heights but rewards with a wonderful view.
The yellow line continues to show the way back to Neustadt. On the promenade path, go straight ahead crossing the railway tracks. On the right is the starting point Neustadt train station. For cooling off, the Freibadesee* or the Freizeitbad Mariba await.
*Alternatively, the route can also start here.
