Kurort Rathen 

Only about 40 kilometers from the art and cultural city of Dresden, the traffic-calmed "state-recognized climatic spa resort Rathen" with the districts of Niederrathen and Oberrathen offers tranquility, relaxation, and active recreation. The small, well-maintained holiday resort is situated directly on the Elbe at the foot of the world-famous Bastei.

As visitors walk along the well-developed, partly certified hiking trails of varying levels of difficulty, they can explore the wildly romantic Bastei massif. They will enjoy breathtaking views of the picturesque rock formations in the heart of Saxon Switzerland National Park. A performance in what is probably Europe's most beautiful natural theater, the Felsenbühne Rathen, becomes a special experience against the fairytale backdrop of the Bastei massif.

Visitors can discover the surroundings of Rathen in a variety of ways, whether climbing, with a paddleboat, or on the Elbe bike path. From a gondola ride on Lake Amsel to a cruise on the Elbe with one of the over 100-year-old paddle steamers, there is plenty to see on the water as well. Additionally, the "Eisenbahnwelten," the largest garden railway in the world, also draws visitors to Rathen.
