Striking sandstone mesa above the Elbe valley with an extensive plateau and one of the largest fortifications in Europe.

The Königstein is one of the most impressive table mountains in Saxon Switzerland. With a height of around 361 meters and steeply sloping rock faces, it dominates the landscape above the Elbe Valley. The flat summit is completely built on and visible from afar.

The plateau is located within Königstein Fortress and is only accessible as part of a visit to the fortress. From the upper edge, there are sweeping views over the Elbe Sandstone Mountains and the Eastern Ore Mountains.

The patrol trail runs along the foot of the Tafelberg. It leads around the rock and opens up vantage points with views of the Elbe valley and the town of Königstein.

The location of Table Mountain makes it a prominent landmark and a popular stage destination for hikers.
