The Saxon-Bohemian National Park Railway, also known as the National Park Railway U 28, connects the regions of Saxon Switzerland and Bohemian Switzerland.
A train has been running between Bad Schandau and Sebnitz for over 130 years. Due to the challenging mountainous terrain, impressive engineering feats were achieved back then. The 15.5-kilometre route is characterized by 7 tunnels, 2 viaducts, curves, valley sections and a difference in altitude of around 200 metres. Today, modern railcars offer the highest level of travel comfort and enable a comfortable journey to hiking and climbing destinations such as Mittelndorf or Rathmannsdorf in the Saxon Switzerland National Park.
