Katzfels view

Viewpoint/viewing tower

A small, rocky viewpoint with an airy ascent and sweeping views of the Elbe Sandstone Mountains.

.
The Katzfels is a rock spur on the eastern edge of the Katzstein massif near Cunnersdorf. It lies at an altitude of around 474 meters.

Access is via fixed metal ladders and rock steps. The climb is short but steep. From the summit, the view extends as far as the Tanzplan and the Zschirnsteine.

A small cat-shaped stone figure is attached to the rock and refers to its name. The name goes back to the wild cat that used to be common in the region. The last documented specimen was shot in 1809 not far from the Bohemian border.
