A striking Renaissance building in the center of Šluknov offers insights into its eventful history.
Located in Bohemian Switzerland, Schluckenau Castle is one of the oldest buildings in the town. It was built in the Saxon Renaissance style and rebuilt several times over the centuries. After a fire in 1986, the building remained unused for a long time before it was ceremoniously reopened in 2006.
Since then, additional floors have gradually been made accessible as part of the annual castle festival. Today, you can take a guided tour through almost all of the rooms, including the original historical living areas.
The castle houses several permanent exhibitions, including one on the history of war veterans from the Schluckenauer Zipfel and a forestry museum.
On the first floor there is a tourist information center with internet access and a castle confectionery with regional food and drinks.
