- The Elbe Bridge in Bad Schandau (B172) is completely closed for safety reasons. This also applies to pedestrians and cyclists!
Traveling by car:
The wide detour goes via the Elbe bridges in Pirna.
Traveling by train:
Local S-Bahn station: Schmilka-Hirschmühle. There are regular express train connections from Germany and even from Austria all the way to Bad Schandau (e.g., a direct connection from Berlin to Bad Schandau). From Bad Schandau, take the S-Bahn two stops to Schmilka, then cross over on the old “Lena,” the historic ferry from 1927, and you’re there!
