Lutz Männel uses puppets to present eerily beautiful, classic ballads ranging from Goethe to Mikhalkov, familiar and new scenes from the marriage of Horst and Berta, wolf-themed and Bohemian puppet skits featuring Wolfred Wolf, Hurvinek and Spejbl, and a frivolous bedtime treat.

About Lutz Männel’s Puppet Theater:
Someone must have placed his talent for puppetry in his bassinet, because he’s been making Kasper and his friends dance on stage since he was a child. He sewed his first puppets at age 18; his first play, “Kasper, the Devil, and the Gallows Rope,” dates from this time, as does his first stage, built from aluminum tent poles, bamboo sticks, and spotlight spray cans. He has been a freelance puppeteer since November 1996. He crafts all the puppets, props, and stages himself, writes the scripts, and directs the shows. The puppets speak Standard German, the Upper Lusatian dialect, Saxon, Palatinate, Swabian, Northern German, or Berlin dialect. Puppets with Russian, English, French, Italian, Swiss, and Bohemian accents also appear.
