The restaurant is located in the inner courtyard of the medieval Hohnstein Castle, perched on a rocky outcrop above the Polenz Valley. As a restaurant open to the public, it welcomes all visitors—regardless of whether they are touring the castle.
The menu features seasonal dishes prepared with ingredients from the region. The offerings are complemented by homemade cakes and a selection of ice cream and sundaes, which are especially popular during the summer months.
The atmosphere in this historic setting is perfect for a break. A seasonal outdoor area in the castle courtyard offers seating for individual guests and groups.

- Getting to Hohnstein by bus and train:
Take the train to either Pirna or Bad Schandau.
From Pirna, bus routes 236 and 237 will take you to your destination in 35 minutes. From Bad Schandau, bus line 254 takes passengers to Hohnstein in about 20 minutes. Note: Due to the complete closure of the Bad Schandau Elbe Bridge (B172), you’ll need to take the ferry for now and then catch the bus from Bad Schandau.
Getting to Hohnstein by car or motorcycle:
From Dresden, take the A4 toward Görlitz. In Burkau, take the exit for Hohnstein. From there, it’s another 15 kilometers to your destination.
On the A4 coming from Chemnitz, take the A17 toward Prague just before Dresden. In Pirna, exit the highway toward Bastei. Continue following the road toward Hohnstein, which you’ll reach in 10 minutes. A little further on, winding roads lead down into the Polenztal valley.
