Bike ride on the old Post Road

The route starts at the Guest House in the spa town Berggießhübel. You cross the Gottleuba and continue straight onto Gersdorfer Street. Follow this street to Gersdorf itself. Shortly before the village entrance, you reach a height from where you have a beautiful view of the landscape. Upon reaching the village, follow the Main Street and turn left shortly before the post office towards Göppersdorf. After a few gentle climbs, you ride comfortably between meadows and pastures. Shortly after entering Göppersdorf, turn right towards Liebstadt onto Göppersdorfer Street. It goes uphill until you cross the highway bridge just outside the village, from where the road leads downhill. At the next junction, turn right to Liebstadt, here you can coast down to the turnoff to Kuckuckstein Castle. The castle gained world historical significance through Napoleon I's nocturnal visit on September 9, 1813, where he mutilated a colored copper engraving of his renegade General J. V. Moreau by cutting out the French cockade and angrily wrote underneath: "This traitor did not deserve it." Unfortunately, the original has been missing since 1945. You can find guided tour dates online at www.schloss-kuckuckstein.de. From Liebstadt, you now go to Börnersdorf. There, turn left uphill and shortly after, a sign "Old Dresden-Teplitz Post Road" indicates the way left. After a few hundred meters, you find the Kursächsische half-mile column No. 14. The road continues to the highway. Here, shortly after the bridge, turn left onto a gravel path that runs a short stretch along the A17. Here is also the next postal mile column (No. 13). You cross the highway again and continue right to the road leading back to Göppersdorf. There is another column on the left side. Here you turn left and cycle to the Erlichtteich. During a short break, you can admire column No. 12 before continuing on the Old Dresden-Teplitz Post Road. Along the route, you have a beautiful view of the Lilienstein and the valley towards Borna. There is also a memorial column for Napoleon here, which commemorates the battles of the French in the region. Slightly downhill, you come to the road leading to Borna. Here you can coast to the junction to Gersdorf. From there, you return on the same route back to Berggießhübel.
