The 32 km long stage 7 starts in Stolpen and takes you through the Front Saxon Switzerland to Stadt Wehlen.

A rather easy section, but it scores with scenic highlights. The ride through the Wesenitz valley is wildly romantic, but the final climb will bring you back to reality. Then follows a descent via steep switchbacks to the center of Stadt Wehlen.

Author´s Tip / Recommendation of the author

A visit to Stolpen Castle definitely belongs at the very top of your bucket list for this stage. It towers far above the town on a basalt rock. The castle is known for the fate of Countess Cosel, the lover of Augustus the Strong, who kept her imprisoned here for 49 years until her death. From the castle towers, you have a great 360° view over Saxon Switzerland and Upper Lusatia. There are parking facilities for bikes in the castle courtyard.

Safety guidelines

At the Daubemühle in Mühlsdorf you should push your bike downhill and uphill at the Wesenitz bridge. It is not only steep here, but you will likely also meet hikers.

Watch out for car traffic on the descent to Stadt Wehlen.
