Directions
From the Kohlberg parking lot (on the road between Lohmen and the village of Wehlen) or from the nearby bus stop in Uttewalde, walk a few meters along the road and turn onto Buschholzstraße, an unmarked dirt road that leads into the forest. From Buschholzstraße, turn left onto an unmarked path and then follow the signs for “Rundgang Teufelskammer.”
The damp, green rock walls of the Teufelsgrund draw ever closer to the path. Suddenly, you find yourself at the narrowest, darkest spot right in the middle of the Teufelskammer. On either side, you’ll see fairy-like formations of lichens and ferns, plays of light and shadow, dripping water, and mosses that soak up the moisture like sponges. For the particularly adventurous, there’s a short detour: From the Teufelsgrund, follow the signs for “Rundgang Teufelsschlüchte” to the right, then keep to the right so that you descend back into the Teufelsgrund via the “Rundgang Teufelskammer.”
After Teufelsgrund, our hike turns left into Wehlener Grund (red dot) and continues (green line) into Utterwalder Grund until we reach the Waldidylle inn. We follow the trail marked with a green dot until we reach Uttewalde, where we turn left to reach the starting point of the hike via Alte Uttewalder Straße.
