Central landing stage in Bad Schandau for trips on historic paddle steamers through the Elbe Sandstone Mountains.
The jetty of the Saxon Steamboat Company is located on the Elbe quay, downstream on the right bank of the Elbe, right next to the town center of Bad Schandau
From here, trips depart down the Elbe towards Pirna and Dresden with stops in Königstein, the spa town of Rathen and Stadt Wehlen, among others. A boat trip can easily be combined with a visit to Königstein Fortress or the Basteiaussicht.
Guests can reach the National Park Center, the spa gardens and the historic passenger elevator to Ostrau in just a few minutes. The Kirnitzschtalbahn is also within easy reach and opens up further excursion possibilities to the national park or popular restaurants.
Fun facts:
The teachings of Sebastian Kneipp had a great influence on Bad Schandau. In 1798, the first bathhouse with 8 bathrooms and 9 tubs was built in this recreational spa after the iron spring known as the "red raft" became famous across the country. Today, St. John's Church houses an altar from 1572 and a sandstone pulpit hewn from a single block.
The Saxon Steamship Company has the oldest and largest fleet of paddle steamers in the world. Several ships date back to the 19th century and have been restored in keeping with their listed status.
