Directions
- The starting point is the Thürmsdorf Gasthof bus stop. From there, a short stretch of road with red markings leads to the right to Thürmsdorf Castle. The castle originally dates back to the 16th century and has been rebuilt several times. Today it is under reconstruction and only the enchanted castle garden with its old walls and rows of old trees can be visited. Right next door is the chocolate factory, where you can start your hike with a cup of warm cocoa. At the castle, turn right and follow the signs for the Malerweg.
The path continues straight ahead along the orchards of the Thürmsdorf vineyard. The slope was already used for fruit growing in the 19th century and is now a well-kept example of traditional cultural landscape. The destination is the Biedermann Mausoleum, which was built in 1816. It has been restored in recent years and now serves as a Malerweg chapel. During Advent, the light of peace from Bethlehem is distributed here - a sign of hope and community.
To the left, the path leads to the Johann-Alexander-Thiele viewpoint, named after the 18th century landscape painter who made sketches of the fortress here. There is a picnic area with a view over the Elbe valley and two mighty table mountains.
Then follow the Malerweg along the edge of the forest until you reach a fork in the path. Leave the Malerweg here, keep left and return towards the village. The path now crosses the section you have already walked. From there, the yellow markings lead straight downhill to Pehnaberg, where you turn right onto the road. After a short uphill section, you reach the bus stop at the starting point again.
