Sturmbauers Eck bus stop
The tour starts at the Räumichtmühle bus stop. From there, follow the road towards Bad Schandau for about 250 metres. Following the Malerweg trail markers, the steep ascent through the Mühlschlüchte gorge begins on the right. At a fork in the path, there is a shelter that is ideal for a short rest.
From here, the trail runs along a ridge towards the Großer Pohlshorn. Along the way, you can make a detour to the Kleiner Pohlshorn, which offers only limited views. The trail branches off to the right towards the Großer Pohlshorn. Once you reach the top of the 379-metre-high sandstone table mountain, you are rewarded with an impressive view over the rear of Saxon Switzerland. If you have good eyesight, you can also spot the Kleinsteinhöhle cave from here. Back on the main path, the descent is via a few steps. About halfway down, leave the Malerweg and turn right onto the unmarked Oberer Hirschewaldweg. This leads around the west side of the Pohlshorn and Zätzschenhorn mountains. Above the path, you will notice clearings that have been created by bark beetle infestation of the spruce trees in recent years, but you can now see how the forest is regenerating itself.
The path finally descends through the Schwarzen Schlüchte gorge to the road and reaches the Sturmbauers Eck bus stop, where the hike ends.
Geocache hunters will find several caches along the way.
In addition to the description, at the end of the tour it is also possible to climb up to Sturmbauers Eck (marked with a green line).
