It is a relaxing day trip by bike away from the usual highlights in the Front Saxon Switzerland. This plan brings us by S-Bahn from Dresden to Heidenau, where we first lose ourselves for over an hour in the Baroque Garden Großsedlitz. There is a lot to discover here, and around every corner you catch a new view of the sculptures, fountains, and orangeries. Then off to the Elbe and ferry crossing to Birkwitz. Anyone who already needs a short cool-down can quickly jump into the bathing lake. We follow the D4 route. In Graupa, the next cultural highlight: the Richard Wagner sites Graupa. The composer created his Lohengrin here. After a short ice cream break, we speed on to Liebethal, the eponymous valley tempts with a pleasant temperature drop. We continue riding above until we roll into Lohmen, where we get an exciting view of the local castle. The next destination is the Feldbahn Museum in Herrenleite. On some days, you can watch the railway workers over their shoulders. For us, it goes on to our personal highlight – Milchhof Fiedler in Dorf Wehlen. Here you can not only visit the sweetest calves but also stock up at the milk vending machine with products from their own production. Our tip: the drinking yogurt with lemon - super refreshing. A little further uphill and then breathe in National Park air on the way to Stadt Wehlen. At the marketplace with the cyclist's church, you can either take a short break or quickly take the ferry and cycle to the adventure pool. Diving into the water helps us relax immediately. And where else can you look directly at the Bastei from the sunbathing lawn? Eventually, the pool fries are digested, and we feel like moving again. Along the Elbe cycle path, we ride upstream to Königstein. At Deck 16 then a Radler, garlic spaghetti, and just lean back with your feet in the sand watching the Elbe and fortress. Almost 37 varied kilometers, we can say: we have reached our destination relaxed.
