Approximately 20 kilometer long route, slightly hilly, mostly car-free

The route starts in Pirna at the station and leads over the old town bridge to Pirna-Posta. Immediately after the bridge it goes upstream on the Elbe towards Stadt Wehlen. Before the bridge over the Kratzbach, turn left into Grundstraße and pedal uphill to Mocketal. The route follows a short section of Wehlener Straße to the right.

After a few meters, Herrenleite branches off to the left. It is comfortable cycling on the narrow asphalt road through the shady forest. Sandstone was once mined in the area. For transportation purposes, a railway was established at the beginning of the 20th century. Parts of this facility are now used by the "Historische Feldbahn Dresden e.V." association and are open to visitors on certain days.

Herrenleite eventually leads to Dorf Wehlen. A stopover is recommended here in the "Little Saxon Switzerland", where buildings and rock formations of the region are faithfully recreated in miniature. From Dorf Wehlen it is only a few kilometers downhill to the valley to Stadt Wehlen. At the market there, the cyclist church has opened its doors for visitors.

With the ferry you reach the left side of the Elbe in the Pötzschau district. A little further uphill lies the former residence of the painter Robert Sterl. The small museum is considered one of the few artist residences in Germany preserved in its original state. From here the route follows the Elbe cycle path downstream back to Pirna, where a detour into the beautifully restored old town completes the circuit.
