Located on the upper reaches of the Seidewitz river, Kuckuckstein Castle and the church proclaim the town from afar.

In the middle of the romantic Seidewitz Valley, in the foothills of the Eastern Ore Mountains on the border to Saxon Switzerland, lies Liebstadt, the smallest town in Saxony, with its districts of Waltersdorf, Döbra, Berthelsdorf, Herbergen, Seitenhain, Großröhrsdorf, and Biensdorf. Some striking elevations in the municipal area are the Napoleonschanze near Herbergen, the Käferberg, the Galgenberg, and the Ziegenrücken. South of Liebstadt, the small river Seidewitz has been dammed by a retention basin since 1967. Impressively, the famous Kuckuckstein Castle and the church of Liebstadt tower over the small town due to their location on the steep slope of the Seidewitz Valley.

But besides this striking landscape, Liebstadt also has historical sights to offer. The castle hosted a prominent billeting during the war days of 1813. On September 9, 1813, none other than Napoleon and his general staff stayed overnight here. Marshal St. Cyr also took up quarters here twice; during his last stay, the Carlowitz castle was even demolished.

The following districts belong to Liebstadt

Berthelsdorf | Biensdorf | Döbra | Großröhrsdorf | Herbergen | Liebstadt | Seitenhain | Waltersdorf
