Strude holes on the trout trail

Short facts

  • Bad Gottleuba-Berggießhübel
  • Natural sight

Swirl holes in the sandstone impressively show how water and debris have carved natural shapes into the rock over the centuries.

Along the Forellensteig trail near Zwiesel, there are several swirl holes that have been carved into the soft sandstone by flowing water with sand and gravel.
The funnel-shaped depressions lie directly in the stream bed and are particularly visible after rain. The surrounding area is characterized by rocks, ferns and stream vegetation.

The trail runs through a quiet valley in a natural setting. The Strudellöcher are easily accessible and can be easily integrated into a short walk or circular hike.
There is no structural infrastructure on site. The path is unpaved - sturdy footwear is recommended.
