Small chapel on the Malerweg with a view of Königstein Fortress, the Lilienstein and the Elbe, located directly on the Malerweg.
The Malerweg Chapel in Thürmsdorf is a small, listed building on the edge of the Elbe Sandstone Mountains. It is located in the municipality of Struppen, directly on the famous Malerweg trail.
The building was built in 1920/21 as a mausoleum for the von Biedermann family. After extensive renovation, it was rededicated as a chapel with public access in 2016.
The chapel is located on the seventh stage of the Painter's Trail, which leads 116 kilometers through Saxon Switzerland. The surrounding area combines scenic attractions with historical references.
From nearby vantage points, you can enjoy sweeping views of the Elbe Valley and Königstein Fortress. Painters such as Johann Alexander Thiele were inspired here as early as the 18th century.
