The best way to reach Bad Schandau from Dresden is via the A17 or A4 highways. We recommend switching from the A4 to the A17 at the Dresden-West interchange and continuing on to Pirna. From Pirna, take the road on the right bank of the Elbe toward Lohmen and Rathewalde, passing through Waltersdorf or Hohnstein, to reach Bad Schandau.
In Bad Schandau, you’ll find the hotel parking lot on the town side; please enter “Dresdner Str.” into your GPS—the parking lot is located about 100 meters past the Sparkasse on the right side of the street.
Please note the bridge closure in Bad Schandau—it is NOT possible to cross the Elbe by car in Bad Schandau!
Are you traveling by train?
The “Nationalparkbahnhof Bad Schandau” is an international EC stop, making it very convenient to arrive directly by train. Direct connections are available from Berlin, Leipzig, Prague, Budapest, Graz, and daily from Vienna. Since 2020, there has also been a direct connection from Rostock to Dresden every two hours.
For domestic rail travel, take the train to Dresden Hauptbahnhof and then the S1 S-Bahn (Bad Schandau–Schöna) to Bad Schandau Station. The station is also located on the left bank of the Elbe.
