For over a hundred years, the rustic wooden hut on the Papststein plateau has been inviting visitors to stop in for a cozy break. It’s one of the most traditional mountain huts in Saxon Switzerland! It stands there as if frozen in time, with its dark, lovingly handcrafted facade, green window and door frames, and handwritten signs listing the daily specials.
Inside, too, it looks more like the 19th century than the 21st at first glance. The wooden tables rest on the wrought-iron bases of antique sewing machines, the lampshades are old porcelain plates, and on cold days, a cozy little wood fire crackles and pops in the large, green tiled stove.
