Waldgaststätte und Bergwirtschaft Steinerner Tisch

The history of the Steinerne Tisch dates back to 1710, when Elector Frederick Augustus I of Saxony laid the foundation for forest management here. Initially, temporary shelters were built for hunting parties, before the first permanent structures—such as a wooden house and a refreshment hall—were erected at the end of the 18th century. In 1925, a solid building was constructed, the basic structure of which still stands today.

After World War II, the property came into the possession of a Dresden family and was later operated by the GDR’s trade organization. Over the years, the inn was continuously expanded and renovated. In 1990, ownership was transferred back to the Schmidt family from Bochum.

Since 2017, this traditional restaurant has been renovated and revitalized by Dresden residents who are passionate about nature and mountain sports.
