"Hiker Above the Sea of Fog" — The Painters' Trail Around Zirkelstein and Kaiserkrone
This day hike in the inner part of Saxon Switzerland follows the Caspar David Friedrich Trail and Stage 6 of the Painters’ Trail. We’ll discover the cliffs and vistas where Caspar David Friedrich painted his world-famous work “Wanderer Above the Sea of Fog,” among other works. On the tour, we’ll learn more about the formation of the unique natural landscape Elbe Sandstone Mountains, as well as its rare flora and fauna in this protected area of the national park region. Experience nature and art here!
