Concert: Duo “Wikja” – Stefan Johansson & Linda Blixt “Vinterklang”
“Wikja” is an old word for Vikings. They represent the past and the heritage of the Scandinavians. This world music duo, with roots in the high, barren north, draws on this cultural treasure, which is reflected in the present and in people’s everyday lives. Stefan Johansson and Linda Blixt grew up in Luleå, northern Sweden, on the Arctic Circle. Winters in the north are dark, long, and mystical. They shape the landscape, the people, and the music. “Wikja’s” melodies, with their Nordic sound, bring peace, a sense of boundlessness, and touch the heart deeply. At the same time, their music is filled with power and sparkling energy. They draw inspiration for their songs from Swedish nature, which offers a deep glimpse into the Nordic soul—and at the end of which a door always stands wide open: hope!
With their program “Vinterklang,” listeners are transported to the vast expanses of northern Sweden
, where even melancholy can become melancholic…
Not even the barren landscape, the lonely silence, or the biting cold on
their cheeks can stop Linda and Stefan from drawing something
hopeful, something longing, and life-affirming from melancholy.
This is reflected in their essence, their stage presence, their selection of melodies, and
their songwriting.
WIKJA will also perform several songs from their album “Touch the Horizon.”
With vocals, guitar, percussion, and a loop station, the audience
is taken on a musical journey toward the horizon. Serenity, vast expanses, and a sense of freedom and possibility. At the same time, their music provides strength and energy.
Duration: approx. 2 x 45 min + intermission
About Linda Blixt & Stefan Johannson:
Linda Blixt was born in Luleå, northern Sweden. She already has a
successful athletic career to her credit, having won Swedish championship titles in three sports.
But music has also shaped her life: She frequently toured northern Sweden with the choir
“Bothnia-kören,” the band “Bitchboys,” and the a cappella group “Influenser.” No wonder: Her love of music was instilled in her from birth by her grandparents, who worked as a concert pianist, a court singer, and a “Träller,” respectively. In the old days, it was forbidden to play live music at dances, but it was allowed to have a “Trällerin” who would “trällern” the melodies.
For “Wikja” and the new CD “Touch the Horizon,” Linda began to develop and bring her own
music and lyrics to life.
