Breakfast with history: "Splendor and misery - nobility, castles and manor houses in the Baltic States"

Short facts

Speaker: Dr. Andrea Dietrich, Staatliche Schlösser, Burgen und Gärten Sachsen gGmbH

The fascinating world of the Baltic nobility was characterized by power and splendour in magnificent country estates and residences, but also by contradictions and the unstoppable movement of history, which ultimately ended in the "Baltic tragedy" for many German aristocratic families. Majestic façades, manicured gardens based on the French model, marble staircases and precious tapestries on the walls were lost in many places, but history, art, architecture and social change still overlap here today. What the Wettins were looking for in the Baltic States and how their history is connected to the now flourishing region between Memel and Lake Peipus is also the subject of the lecture.

The History(s) breakfasts provide interested visitors with culinary and intellectual delights. We cordially invite all those "hungry for education"!
