Star Hiking Tour

• For organizational reasons, this hike can only be booked up to 7 days before the arrival date.
• We recommend sturdy ankle-high hiking boots and a small backpack for provisions and rain protection for the tours.
• Good basic physical condition, surefootedness, and a head for heights are required for this hiking trip.
• The complete overview of booked accommodations is noted on the travel confirmation/invoice and will be sent to the guest by the tour operator only after the trip is booked, along with the documents, by mail.
• Communication during the trip is possible in the following languages: German and English.
• The trip is not suitable for guests with reduced mobility.
• For German nationals, current identification documents apply. All other persons should please note the respective passport and visa deadlines. Your embassy will be happy to provide information on this.

• The Saxon Switzerland Tourism Association is only an intermediary for this trip.

• Day 1: Individual Arrival in Bad Schandau
  Upon your arrival in the spa and resort town, you will learn interesting facts about the Saxon Switzerland National Park at the information center. Afterwards, you can wrap up the arrival day of your star hike with a leisurely stroll over the market, an enjoyable ice cream by the Elbe, or a first walk around the surroundings of Bad Schandau.
• Day 2: Bad Schandau - Schrammsteine - Kirnitzschtal  (approx. 13 km, approx. 5.5 h)
  The first destination is the Schrammsteine, offering a wonderful view of the Schrammstein. In this part of Saxon Switzerland, you will have to overcome some steep ascents and metal stairs. After enjoying the wide panoramic view of the Schrammsteine and descending into the Kirnitzschtal, it is worth taking a detour approximately 700 meters further to the Lichtenhain Waterfall and for an afternoon coffee. You will return to Bad Schandau by bus.
• Day 3: Krippen - Königstein Fortress  (approx. 17 km, approx. 6.5 h)
  On the morning of the second hiking tour in Saxon Switzerland, you will take the Elbe ferry to Krippen and then begin a hike which leads you on the left side of the Elbe to the table mountains Papststein and Gohrisch. Here too, you will be indulged with a wonderful panoramic view (weather permitting). The highlight of the hiking tour is undoubtedly the visit to Königstein Fortress. High above the town of the same name, the "Invincible" sits majestically, offering plenty of history to discover. In the late afternoon, you will return to Bad Schandau by S-Bahn.
• Day 4: Stadt Wehlen - Bastei - Kurort Rathen  (approx. 6 km, approx. 2 h)
  Today's hike is a leisurely one. First, you will experience the breathtaking rocks from the water as you take a boat to Wehlen. Then, hike up via the "Steinerne Tisch" to the famous Bastei with the Bastei Bridge and the Neurathen Rock Castle. Enjoy the views in all directions before descending into the Elbe Valley to the spa town of Rathen. You will return to Bad Schandau by S-Bahn, just like the day before.
• Day 5: Neumannmühle – Schmilka  (approx. 14 km, approx. 5.5 h)
  On a section of the diverse Painter's Way, you will hike today through the Hinterer Saxon Switzerland. Kleinsteinhöhle, Großes Pohlshorn, Goldstein, or Kipphornaussicht – again and again, you have the opportunity to experience beautiful views with small detours. Shortly before today's stage destination, you will ascend to the Großer Winterberg, which at 556 meters is the second highest mountain in Saxon Switzerland. From Schmilka, you will travel back to your accommodation in Bad Schandau by train.
• Day 6: Free Time
  Whether a hike to the puppet city Hohnstein with a visit to the medieval castle complex, a relaxing day in Bad Schandau with a visit to the Toscana Therme, or a side trip to Bohemian Switzerland to the largest natural sandstone bridge, the Prebischtor... the Elbe Sandstone Mountains hiking area has much to offer! Choose the day's program yourself on the penultimate day of your star hiking tour in the Elbe Sandstone Mountains and let the day end with a cozy dinner at the hotel.
