Cycling tour on the Elbe Cycle Route

• For organisational reasons, this cycling tour can only be booked up to 7 days before the arrival date.
• The complete list of booked accommodation is provided on the booking confirmation/invoice and will only be sent to the guest by post with the travel documents after the trip has been booked.
• Communication during the trip is available in the following languages: German and English.
• This trip is not suitable for guests with reduced mobility.

• The Saxon Switzerland Tourist Association acts solely as an intermediary for this trip.

• Day 1: Independent arrival in Prague
  If you are travelling to your cycling holiday by car, we recommend travelling to Dresden rather than driving directly to Prague and leaving your car at our partner hotel. From Dresden, we offer a paid transfer service that will take you directly to Prague (the Holešovice district, close to the cycle route). This allows you to begin your cycling holiday from Prague to Dresden at your leisure and without any worries.

• Day 2: Stay in Prague
  The ‘Golden City’ offers numerous opportunities for sightseeing and other activities. Visit Hradčany and the Royal Palace, stroll across Charles Bridge or immerse yourself in Prague’s vibrant city life and diverse cultural scene.

• Day 3: Prague – Mělník (approx. 58 km)
  After breakfast, mount your bicycle and leave the Czech capital behind. Cycle along the Vltava to Mělník, the centre of Bohemia’s wine-growing region. From the castle hill in Mělník, you can enjoy magnificent views of the confluence of the Vltava and Elbe, as well as look out over the onward course of the Elbe Cycle Route, which you will follow for another four days.

• Day 4: Mělník – Litoměřice area (approx. 48 km)
  From now on, your cycle route follows the Elbe throughout. Today’s cycling tour takes you via Roudnice to the former fortress town of Terezín (Theresienstadt). From here, it is only a few kilometres to Litoměřice (Leitmeritz), with its renowned Chalice House. Round off your cycling tour with a stroll through the beautiful Old Town.

• Day 5: Litoměřice area – Děčín (approx. 50 km)
  On today’s stage of your cycling holiday, you will cycle through Ústí nad Labem (Aussig), pass the ruins of Střekov Castle and follow the Elbe to Děčín (Tetschen). Frédéric Chopin once found inspiration in the town’s remarkable Baroque château.

• Day 6: Děčín – Bad Schandau/Pirna (approx. 21/45 km)
  From Děčín, cycle along the Elbe Cycle Route on the left bank of the river and you will soon reach Germany. The extraordinary rock formations of Saxon Switzerland now rise on either side of the Elbe. Take your time to absorb the impressions of the picturesque Elbe Valley and cycle at a leisurely pace to the charming spa town of Bad Schandau (Krippen district). From Bad Schandau, the Elbe Cycle Route takes you past Königstein Fortress and the Bastei viewpoint to medieval Pirna, the gateway to Saxon Switzerland, where today’s stage ends.

• Day 7: Bad Schandau/Pirna – Dresden (approx. 47/22 km)
  The final cycling stage first takes you to Pillnitz Palace. It is well worth stopping here for a rest and a walk through the famous palace gardens. From here, it is only a short distance along the Elbe Cycle Route before you finally reach Dresden, where the historic Old Town invites you to take a leisurely stroll.
