Cycling in the National Park

Right into the heart of nature - cycle tours in the national park are particularly eventful

The cycle paths through the Saxon Switzerland National Park are a special insider tip. On certain hiking trails that are designated as cycle routes - currently around 50 kilometres - you cycle straight through unspoilt nature. However, your bike should be reasonably suitable for off-road cycling. You also need to be prepared for steep climbs, steep descents, narrow sections and bumps. But this is exactly what makes these tours so appealing.

Cycling in harmony

How to respectfully enjoy the beauty of Saxon Switzerland National Park on two wheels

  • Only use the designated cycle paths: In the national park, specially marked routes are open to cyclists so that they can experience nature without disturbing it. The national park cycle routes are marked on the green signposts with yellow lettering as "Radroute" and with a bicycle logo.

  • Respect the right of way of hikers: As many of the cycle paths are also hiking trails, pedestrians always have the right of way.

  • Be prepared for uneven ground: Due to the natural terrain, paths can have inclines and bumps. Ride carefully.

  • Avoid cycling at dusk and at night: wild animals are particularly sensitive at these times. To minimise disturbance, you should not cycle at dusk and at night.
